Melbourne - CBD arcades, South Melbourne Market and St. Kilda

The nicest way to get a feeling for Melbourne is strolling throug the town without any plan. Starting from the Greenhouse Backpackers on Flinders Lane, which is really central in CBD you find lots of stores and even more cafés and arcades. Stores are also open on Sunday, but like every day online till 5 p.m. Use the free tramline in the Central Business District to go back to your starting point.

You can spend an awesome day going south with the tram nr. 96, dropping of at stop 127  to see the daily market just aside the tram station and hopping on the tram till you reach St. Kilda beach, checking out St. Kilda market on sunday and relax at the beach front. You get a tram card at most shops (e.g. 7 eleven - look out for the black, green and blue signs) and the whole trip cost you only AUD 6 (plus AUD 6 for the myki card). Maybe you need a lunch and do some shopping? Go to Chaplin Street or use the tram to go there. At the sunset you can watch the penguins at the pier, if the weathercondition allow.
